It may be a largely UK phenomenon but over the past few years a concept of 'grooming for sex' has grown up.

There seem to be a group of people who one assumes have themselves a very low sex drive who seem to feel thwarted that there is so much sex going on in the world and yet there are so few accusations of rape.

Out of this frustration comes - it appears - a concept that there is a great criminal conspiracy at large in the world that is grooming or training young people - particularly girls - to accept or actively participate in this entirely alien activity of having sex.

There's something quite deep that goes way back into the sporting tastes of the nation. Football is sometimes described as a game for gentlemen played by thugs and contrasted with rugby , a game for thugs played by gentlemen. I think this is a manifestation of the prevalence in the 19th and early 20th century of autism in the working class.

In the 60s the nation's matrons derived enormous pleasure from wrestling whilst their men folk indulged in boxing.

Middle class - rugby, female - wrestling, working class male - autistic - football and boxing. Football and boxing are about giving the other guy a kicking without actually coming to grips with him.

It's quite natural for an autistic individual to see personal intimacy as repulsive. It's quite natural for such an individual who has been groomed to be more sociable to imagine that all people who indulge in personal intimacy have been groomed or trained to it and did not come to it naturally.

It is the British Tradition of policing for the police to tend and expect to grapple with suspects. Those elements - probably under US influence - who wish to move to more use of CS and pepper spray and firearms are showing this tendency towards an autistic world view.
